Roll coating is a coating process in which an applicator roll is used to transfer and apply the coating to the substrate. Roll coaters are ideal for applying transparent base coat, colored base coat and top coat to flat substrates. For flat substrates with carved surface, it is only compatible with transparent base coat, slow cure coating or coating with specific drying method, such as UV adhesive and water-based coatings.
Roll coating method is appropriate for the coating of flat substrates like plastic and metal plates and flat decoration materials with curved surface such as wooden door, wardrobe, cupboard and any other panel furniture.
XMF can provide you with roll coating machines of different coating weight (5-50g/㎡), according to which you can choose your best fit roll coating machine. Furthermore, we are capable of offering you the customized roll coating solution according to the type, width and thickness of your substrate and other production requirements.
XMF roll coating equipment selections include single roll coater, twin roll coater, three roller coating machine, single roll reverse coating machine, batten edge roll coater and so on.
The applicator roll is set closely to the steel roll in parallel. While they rotate inward at a constant speed, the substrate is transported forward by the conveyor. The coating fluid uniformly passes through the gap between the applicator roll and the steel roll and is transferred onto the surface of the substrate. The coating thickness and uniformity on the applicator roll can be adjusted by controlling the gap between the rolls.
